Regularly checking your car or van's wheel alignment can extend the life of your tyres by up to 12,000 miles, improve fuel efficiency, and correct steering concerns. Tyre Smart provides a wheel alignment service to guarantee that your wheels are correctly aligned and minimise the probability of steering and suspension problems. Our professionals will check the principal alignment angles of your wheels using Hunter Hawkeye laser alignment technology and offer you a printed report to take home.
What is the wheel alignment process?
An alignment aligns a car's wheels and axles to drive in the same direction. Our mechanic changes the numerous suspension angles that govern tyre movement and position, such as toe, push, camber, and caster. The technician will also check that the steering wheel is in the correct position. The alignment angles for each car are stated in degrees by the manufacturer.
Your car's suspension system will determine the type of alignment you get. All-wheel-drive and front-wheel-drive vehicles with independent or adjustable rear suspensions require a four-wheel alignment. Both axles must be appropriately oriented in this situation, and all four wheels will form a rectangle parallel to one another and perpendicular to the ground. If you don't have a four-wheel or all-wheel-drive vehicle, you'll probably only need a front-end alignment, merely adjusting the front-axle components. The angle at which a car's rear wheels point in relation to the vehicle's centre is referred to as thrust angle. The rear wheels and axle are corrected to be parallel with the front axle in this alignment.
Signs of poor wheel alignment
It is critical to never drive with a bad wheel alignment for an extended period, as this will quickly wear out your tyres. Here's how to tell if your wheels are out of alignment:
- While driving, the vehicle pulls to one side
- The alignment of your steering wheel is incorrect
- Tyre wear is uneven
- While driving, there are squealing noises
What happens if I leave it?
Waiting until one of your tyres blows out on the road can result in pricey repairs, towing, and even dangerous accidents. Wheel alignment is critical to the health of your vehicle and should not be overlooked! Tyre rotation can help reduce wear and tear, but it won't compensate for wheels that aren't oriented to original standards.
